Dr. Lonise P. Bias is an internationally known motivational speaker, trainer, consultant, and a certified teen and family life coach. Dr. Bias has delivered powerful keynote addresses, facilitated, and developed workshops for faith based, public and private sectors for over thirty years. Her mission is to inspire and bring forth messages of hope to audiences in a driving force for positive change with an optimistic outlook that encourages all. She is the President of Bspeaks a Life Investment Company that “brings new solutions to old problems.” Dr. Bias has developed W.O.L. ( Women of Light Ministry for Women ), W.I.T. (Women In training Teen program for girls), and M.I.T. (Men in Training teen program for boys) and H.O.P.E. (Helping Our Parents to Endure and Excel Parenting Program). Dr. Bias believes HOPE is not extinct and the best is yet to come. She believes we can “turn lemons into lemonade” in the family, youth, community, schools, colleges and workplace. Dr. Bias loves encouraging and empowering women. She says that womanhood is a place of honor and motherhood is a greater place of honor. The woman is the creative part of God. Women create spaces of wellness, hope, peace, love and joy in today’s society. Dr. Bias also created the W.O.L. (Women of Light
Speaker Series) helping women to stand up to the challenges of life today. This program is free to the public every 3rd Saturday of the month. She has hosted many Women’s Conferences and Luncheons and other activities.
Dr. Bias is a member of Hemingway Memorial AME Church in District Hts. MD where Rev. Dr. Darrell Folsom is the Pastor. She was ordained Elder September 21, 2011 by Pastor Arthur Clark of Agape Family Life Center in Waldorf Md.
Her clients include The White House ONDPC Program, United Air Force Academy, Pennsylvania Dept of Education, Prince Georges County Circuit Court Adult Drug Program, many Government Agencies, Women and Youth Organizations, P.U.M.P.S., United Black Fund, Forgiving Mothers Inc, The Mentor Foundation, Girl Scouts of America, Youth and Adult Correction Facilities (male and female), Military ( August 2016 she was the keynote speaker for “Women’s Equity Day” at Fort Knox Kentucky), Universities, NAACP, Public and
Private Schools and Professional Sports (NBA, NFL and MLB) and many Women’s Organizations. The spring of 2016 she gave a keynote address in New York for Queen Sylvia of Sweden.
Dr. Bias has appeared on numerous TV shows and spoken on numerous radio programs. She has been honored as the Woman of the Year, received awards, and keys to many cities. May 1990 Dr. Bias received an Honorary Doctorate of Education from Anna Maria College in Paxton Mass.
Her journey was navigated as a public speaker after the death of her oldest son, Len Bias a University of Md. basketball player, died of cocaine intoxication in June of 1986 two days after being drafted by the Boston Celtics. December of 1990 the Bias family experience the death of their second son Jay the victim of a drive by shooting.
These two tragic deaths forged her commitment to reclaim the community. There will be beauty for ashes, believing in the redemptive and transforming power of love. Hope is not extinct. The best is yet to come, for community, youth, family, schools and the workplace.
